Workers in South Korea prepare to fight privatisation

The Korean Public Transport Union was expecting a hard summer in their attempts to stop the wholesale privatisation of the Railway system. Due to public pressure and obvious irregularities in the appointment of a CEO of the Korean Railroad Corporation, the government’s plans were delayed. The KPTU though is now expecting privatisation to begin. In order to be prepared for this fight, and struggles in the education, gas and airline sectors, the KPTU has reorganised its officials into a ‘Struggle’ structure so as to more effective in its campaigns.
