Migrant workers in Libya face persecution

Under Ghaddafi over a million migrant workers were present in Libya, many from Asian countries. They faced lots of discrimination and faced many barriers in trying to organise. With the uprising against the government over the last few months, the situation for migrant workers has got worse, with many of them accused of being mercenaries and killed by rebel militias.
There have been many serious reports that forces supporting the Libyan National Transitional Council have been involved in racist attacks and war crimes against migrant workers. Read the reports from Amnesty International and from Human Rights Watch.
