Free Sri Lankan activists

Two activists in Sri Lanka are missing and are suspected to have been disappeared by paramilitary forces. Lalith Kumar Weeraraj and Kuhan Muruganathan went missing on the eve of International Human Rights Day in December 2011. The Government and Police say they are investigating the issue while members of the Movement for People’s Struggle believe they have been abducted.

The Movement for People’s Struggle has organised many public demonstrations against these abductions and also for the release of Tamil prisoners held illegally. A spokesperson for the Movement said that the group has information that their comrades are still alive and detained by paramilitary forces. For more information click here.

We demand the release of all political prisoners in Sri Lanka. In many countries workers are still jailed for organising.  For more information about AAWL’s Free our Comrades campaign, click here.
