VALE – Joan Kirner, Victoria’s first woman Premier

In 1990, Joan Kirner became the leader of the Victorian Australian Labour Party and the Premier of the state. She was the first woman to become Premier of Victoria and remained as leader till the state elections of 1992. Joan Kirner will be remembered as a life-long feminist who inspired and supported many other women to fulfil their potential and talents.
