Palestinian prisoners resort to hunger strikes to gain their rights

The ongoing occupation of Palestinian lands by the Israeli government generates continuing opposition by Palestinians. This leads to thousands of Palestinians being arrested by Israel, many under the all-encompassing ‘administrative detention’ legislation. Even when in jail, Palestinians continue their struggle for their freedom and for the liberation of Palestine. Many of the prisoners rely on extensive support groups to look after their family and campaign on their behalf. The use of hunger strikes is one of the few avenues that prisoners have to fight back.
