As previously reported, the head of the Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions, Mr Hassan Juma’a Awad, has been targeted by Iraqi authorities for successfully organising oil workers. At a recent IndustriALL international conference, a unanimous call was made for the dropping of all charges against Mr. Awad. Notwithstanding the ongoing repression and general political instability in the country, Iraqi oil workers have continued to mobilise over the last few weeks.
