South Korean Boral workers strike while Hyundai workers faced violence

in Korea, outsourced truck drivers for the Australian multinational company Boral have been on an indefinite strike since June 25. The strike started after announced plans for layoffs and workplace restructuring. On July 5 two officers from the KPTU began a high altitude sit in at the Boral plasterboard factory in Dangjin. In Australia, Boral is a major backer of the anti-union building giant Grocon. Boral is a global company and our response must also be co-ordinated internationally.

The 5,000 workers and activist that participated in the Hope bus action in support of outcourced Hyundai workers, as reported last week, were confronted by armed Hyundai security thugs. Some injuries were unfortunately recorded.
