Unionists targeted in Turkey. Free Our Comrades!

An international campaign has been launched calling for the release of trade union members and leaders in Turkey who were arrested and imprisoned under the pretext of anti terrorism. On Monday 25 June, union offices as well as houses of trade union leaders in around 20 cities all over Turkey were raided and searched.  It’s not the first time that anti-terror laws have been used against trade union organising. Last year, 25 members of the teachers’ union Egitim Sen were sentenced to six years and five months imprisonment for being in possession of books that are widely available throughout Turkey, but more importantly, for holding a union meeting.
