Time for Syrian workers to take control

After months of heroic struggle, Syrian workers continue to defy the combined might of the governments’ military and militias. The price has been very heavy with thousands dead, many missing and tens of thousands of people arrested.

General strikes in cities like Homs, Hama, Latakia, and Deir ez-Zor, have repeatedly showed the high level of determination and organisation of workers in Syria. The time has arrived for workers to enlarge these strikes by taking control of the major oil, manufacturing, service and transport sites in Syria.

Workers will be able to end the wave of killings by taking away the economic base of the government and its supporters. The many soldiers who are defecting from the government side can help workers to defend these workplaces and areas.

Workers internationally can help to end the slaughter by targeting Syrian exports and imports with industrial action. We have the economic and political power to win this revolution. Only by the use of our collective strength can we achieve this for the benefit of the majority. A victory in Syria is a victory for all of us.

The Local Coordinating Committees of Syria have established a media centre to provide  information about the Syrian uprising.
