Tata car workers in India take action

The thousands of workers employed at the new Tata factory in Gujarat face precarious employment condition, long days, low wages and unrelenting pressure to work harder. The Indian made car, the Tata, was supposed to be the pride of Indian industrial achievement but for the workers making this car, there is nothing to celebrate. Attempts to organise have been severely repressed in the past, but in the last few weeks, over 2,000 workers have been on strike. The situation for workers at Tata is very similar to those faced by workers at Honda, at Pricol and at Maruti.
