Slavery conditions exposed for Nepalese migrant workers in Qatar

Nepalese migrant workers are dying at a rate of almost one worker per day as a result of slavery conditions and severe abuses in Qatar. Exploitation of migrant workers is unrelenting in many parts of the world – see our previous reports here, here and here. In light of the recent announcement that Qatar will be hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are calling for a re-run of the vote unless Qatar addresses this exploitation.  The General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) has formed a support group for Nepalese workers abroad.
