Protests against militarism in Japan continue

In the aftermath of the devastation of the Second World War, there has been a very strong anti war movement in Japan. Since the election of the current Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, there has been a marked increase in military spending by the Japanese government. This has led to an upsurge of anti-war actions in the last few years and on the 24th of May, 15,000 protesters surrounded the Japanese Parliament to protest against the construction of a new USA military base in Japan.
