Pakistani workers rally for better wages and pensions

In Lahore the Pakistan Workers Confederation held a demonstration to demand a 30% increase in workers wages, as well as a fixed minimum pension for all workers. The rally also opposed government plans to privatise Pakistan’s national airlines and railway network. Pakistan’s privatisation program is being pushed by the IMF and other western donors, to whom Pakistan is heavily indebted. Labour protests are often violently repressed in Pakistan.
