NAIDOC Week – 6 to 13 July 2014

The National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an occasion to remember the history of genocide and dispossession of Aboriginal peoples.
