Migrant workers face persecution in West Asia

The recent execution of eight migrant workers from Bangladesh has once again highlighted the terrible situation that million of workers face in West Asia. Amnesty International has condemned the executions as carried out without any semblance of proper process for the defendants.

Last year the case of the Sri Lankan maid who had nails hammered into her made the world headlines, but the reality is that until migrant workers in West Asia are organised in trade unions, they will continue to endure terrible conditions.
