Iranian unionist still fighting

Since early July, more than 700 workers at the Sepahan Cement Factory have been on strike over pay and conditions. These workers are employed under a sub-contractor arrangement and receive lower wages and have worse conditions.
In the meantime, Reza Shahabi, a leading member of the Tehran and Suburbs Vahed Bus Company, has had his sentence of six years in jail, a five year ban on union activity and a fine of US $3,500 upheld by the Court of Appeals. The campaign to free Reza continues.
