The truth about Sri Lanka’s ‘White Vans’ starting to come out

After the defeat of the Tamil Tigers in 2009, the Sri Lankan government maintains a state of fear through the use of state control and harassment. One of the tactics used is the employment of ‘White Vans’ to abduct, and disappear people. Even though a UN human rights investigation uncovered widespread human rights abuses by the Rajapaksa government, it continues to deny any knowledge or involvement. A recently returned police spokesman, Prishantha Jayakody, has promised to tell the truth on the involvement of the government in the ‘White Vans’.
