Open our borders and Free the Refugees!

The past week in Australian politics has seen much debate around the issue of asylum seekers.  While politicians are saying that all they want is to save people’s lives and stop any more boats sinking, they have continued to frame the debate in nationalist and xenophobic terms – stopping the boats and defending our borders.

Trade unions and worker organisations need to stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters who are fleeing persecution. We say no to mandatory detention, temporary protection visas and offshore detention centres. To join the campaign to Free the Refugees and let the boats land, click here.
