No to political arrests of journalists, free Mr. Mahmudur Rahman

Mr. Mahmudur Rahman, Interim Editor of the Bangladeshi daily newspaper Amar Desh, was arrested on the 11 of April. This is not the first time Mr. Rahman has been arrested, but in this case he has not been officially charged with any alleged crimes and remains in custody.

Given the appalling human rights situation in Bangladesh there are grave fears for Mr. Rahman’s safety while he is detained. There is an international campaign calling for the immediate release of Mr. Rahman and a halt to the targeting of journalists in Bangladesh.
