Iranian workers unite in opposition to exploitation and repression

As reported previously (see here and here), there has been an upsurge in action by workers in Iran in the last 12 months as a reaction to the continuing deterioration of living standards. On May Day, seven independent labour organisations put out a joint statement denouncing the savage exploitation of Iranian workers by capitalism. The statement calls for unity, an end to repression and wars, and for international labour solidarity. In an unrelated event, days of civil unrest were witnessed in the north western city of Mahabad following the killing of a woman by security forces.
