Burmese shrimp workers still fighting in Thailand

As reported earlier this year, migrant workers, mainly from Burma, employed in Thai fish factories are fighting for better wages and conditions. Last month another case of major exploitation at a fish factory was uncovered. The situation is so widespread, that one of the first stops of the recently released Burmese opposition leader in Thailand was at one of these fish processing factories. While there is an international petition to pressure the giant American company Walmart to improve the workers conditions, workers organising at their workplaces is the most effective strategy to improve conditions.
