Australian maritime workers’ fight with Hutchison continuing

As reported previously, maritime workers in the ports of the Australian cities of Sydney and Brisbane are involved in a bitter dispute against the global giant Hutchison. The dispute centres on restructuring and job losses. The workers are in discussion at the industrial court – Fair Work Australia, but the community assemblies that have been established outside the two ports are continuing. This pressure is vital to make sure a good outcome for workers is reached. Against global companies like Hutchinson, industrial action at Hutchison sites around the world would magnify the pressure on the company.
