Battle over health care continues in South Korea

A strike by workers of the Seoul National University Hospital and members of the KPTU is now entering its second week after countless rounds of negotiations failed to resolve workers’ issues. While the workers are demanding better pay and conditions, the overarching problem is the continual privatisation of health care and the quest for profits over patients’ health. Health workers around the region are expressing their solidarity with their striking South Korean colleagues.
