Another labour activist murdered in the Philippines

Reports have now surfaced that two weeks ago Kagi Lucman, president of the Notre Dame Village Operators and Drivers Association – part of the ITF-affiliated National Confederation of Transport workers’ Unions – was shot dead by a gunman. His death follows the murder on 2 July of Antonio ‘Dodong’ Petalcorin, president of the Davao city-based Network of Transport Organizations (NETO). These murders are clearly part of a co-ordinated campaign by a section of capitalists to intimidate and weaken our movement.
