Another labour activist dies in jail in Iran

In another sad blow to the workers movement in Iran, trade union activist Mr. Afshin Osanlou died while in prison in Rajai-Shahr Prison after suffering a heart attack.  It was not the first time Mr. Osanlou had been jailed. In 2011 he was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of conspiring against national security. We salute the bravery of Mr. Afshin Osanlou and give our condolences to his family, especially to his brother Mr. Mansour Osanloo who had also until recently been a political prisoner in Iran’s jails. Many others are still in jail, including Reza Shehabi, founding member and treasurer of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company.
