The ongoing industrial issues at Qantas and Philippines Airlines are the result of the companies drive to increase their profits. They both want to outsource their workforce so that their workers will be paid less. On Wednesday a thousand members of the Philippine Airlines Employees Association defeated an attempt by police and hired security to remove their protest camp at Manila International Airport.

Qantas and Philippines Airlines workers are in solidarity in their struggles. Read the solidarity statements here. Workers at both companies are fighting hard. Solidarity action by other workers and unions in the airline industry is needed to make sure that these disputes are won. Download PALEA solidarity leaflet here.
