Just a few months after the mass murder of workers in Karachi, Pakistan, another fire has claimed the lives of garment workers. On Saturday the 24th of November, a fire engulfed the factory of Tazreen Fashions, just outside of the capital Dhaka. As with many similar garment factories, Occupational Health and Safety standards were appalling - no fire plan was in place and many of the exits were locked. In total, 112 workers were killed.
On the same day, at least 13 workers died when the road flyover that they were working on collapsed.
